-Anti inflammatory Effect

 

Two potassium glycyrrhizinate has Mineralocorticoid like action - sodium retention and potassium steroid (Glucocorticoid *) like sugar metabolism, but there is no side effect in long-term use.

 

Direct action: it is generally believed that the chemical structure of glycyrrhetinic acid in dipotassium glycyrrhizinate is similar to that of cortin. It can affect ion channels, activate or inhibit enzyme activity, regulate substance metabolism, and regulate the excitability of cholinergic nerve by acting on hormone receptor on cell membrane. The results showed that the permeability of capillary wall and cell membrane decreased, inflammatory exudation decreased, histamine and other toxic substances were inhibited, so as to play a good anti-inflammatory effect.

 

Indirect effect: glycyrrhetinic acid in dipotassium glycyrrhizinate inhibits the destruction of adrenocortical hormone in the body, so that its content in the blood increases correspondingly, thus enhancing the resistance of human body to inflammation.

 

-Antiallergic Effect

 

Glycyrrhizic acid and its potassium salt have good antiallergic effect, inhibit histamine production and skin redness and itching have good effect, especially for some anaphylactic shock. The basic unit between the stimulation of pruritus and the impulses of free nerve endings is a medium with physiological activity. Histamine is the material basis of pruritus. Any factors that stimulate mast cells can make mast cells degranulate and release histamine, which can lead to pruritus. Therefore, antihistamines and stable mast cells can be used to reduce histamine release in clinic, which can treat the common itching phenomenon. As a common concomitant disease of skin sensitivity, itching has the similar main allergen and action way with allergic reaction. Experiments show that dipotassium glycyrrhizinate can inhibit the occurrence of type I hypersensitivity reaction, which can greatly reduce the incidence of itching.
